It's SPRING!!! - Portrait Session News

It looks like spring might finally have arrived. Now is the time to get some great photos of your wee little ones among the daffodils. We are now taking appointments for our fun and relaxed lifestyle portrait sessions in Forrest Park. The Daffodils are in peak season right now and are the perfect background for photos. They'll only be blooming for about the next two weeks, so make your appointment now.

Our other big announcement is that we are no longer charging for session fees. Yep, that's right, we no longer charge you to come and spend some time with us. We do require that you make a $100 deposit for prints the day of the session. But every penny of your deposit goes to purchasing awesome prints or albums of your loved ones.

Ellie

As I was correcting Miss Ellie’s adorable photos with her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, I was reminded of a photo I just found recently of my great-grandmother and me. Unfortunately, my natural memories of my great-grandmother are limited. My parents were wise enough to pick up a camera, though they probably never thought about how special those photos would be to me in years to come. The great Australian photographer David Williams explains that, “we photograph our children as they grow for ourselves. We often forget the power of memory we leave them in those images when they are grown.” I think today I truly understood the meaning of those words and I feel honored that I have been entrusted to provide Ellie with some precious memories of her youth.

    Jeni & Oscar – March 18, 2006

Once again we got to be paparazzi this weekend as we photographed JLo’s wedding. Okay, okay, it was really just Jeni and Oscar Lopez’s wedding but it was still a beautiful and fun wedding to be a part of! They were very welcoming and made us feel like part of the family.
The wedding day was a little cold and grey in Columbia, Missouri. But that just gave Jeni the chance to wear her cool vintage fur coat that she had been saving for a special occasion (and what’s more special than your wedding day?).
The ceremony was very beautiful and the dance floor was packed during the reception. The entire event was based around family and friends are their love for the couple.
The Lopez are moving to a small town in western Kansas and we are already making plans for a bridal shoot with a western flare. We wish them the very best for a long and happy marriage!

The Blog is back in action!

We’ve been a little remiss in posting to our blog. In the past few months, business and pleasure have made us world travelers visiting places like Germany, Austria, Italy, and Mexico. Last weekend we were in Columbia. (No, not the country in South America - just the city in central Missouri.)

In our travels we’ve met wonderful people, photographed amazing sites and been personal paparazzi to a fabulous couple on the beaches of Mexico. Someday we may be rich and famous, but for right now we are truly blessed for being invited to share in some of life’s greatest possible experiences.

Feel free to leave some comments for the couples. Tell them how beautiful they are! Don't be shy.

    MEXICO with Julie & Luke – March 11, 2006

The Couple: I’ve been trying to come up with the best way to explain to you who Julia and Luke are. To tell you that they are beautiful, kind, caring, fun, fabulous people just doesn’t seem enough!!! So I’ll let the photos do most of the talking. It was difficult to choose the photos to post on the blog. Please visit the main gallery to view the entire weeks activity. Available 3/28

The Wedding: Julie and Luke had their destination wedding in Mazatlan, Mexico. The family brought us down a few days early so that we could cover some of the events that they had planned and take family photos on the beach. We enjoyed the chance to get to meet the family and guest and get to know them before the wedding. The wedding day had perfect weather and an awesome sunset. We finished off the week with a post wedding day shoot on the beach.

Geography: Mazatlan is located on the west coast of Mexico. It is a beautiful area to have a wedding and take photos. The hotel, Pueblo Bonito, was gorgeous. It truly was a tropical paradise. We liked the town because it had all the amenities that a big city offers with out being too touristy. We enjoyed our time down there and would be happy to travel there again on business. Plus it gave us a chance to practice our Spanish. (We’re proficient in Spanish, or at least pretend to be.)
